A gift for the health conscious...

For the last month I have been using this product, and I have to say I am definitely happy.

Thats not a particularly bold statement, but then again I did use a key word- 'happy'.

How often would you say you are ever completely happy with a product? How often have you stumbled upon a product in the back of your favourite magazine, and it claims to do wonderful things, and then it arrives at home and you can honestly say that you are happy with it?

Statistics probably say (as I have no actual statistics for user contentment in relation to magazine advertisement related purchases), that the likelihood of product satisfaction is quite low.

So this is why, I am saying that its quite the gift for someone who would like something a little bit different or for someone who likes to take care of their health.

The Alkaline Antioxidant Jug Filter www.water-for-health.co.uk

What I do recommend is that you do a lot of reading around this one. The research behind it is fascinating, and I got quite interested in the substance I, for one, take massively for granted. So take a look at the water for health website, and do a little bit of research for yourself.

The site focuses on providing effective solutions to maintaining what they believe is the body's optimum pH balance. This maintenance is what they believe leads to excellent levels of health. -Yes, we've all been told water is super for us, so keep reading- The body is apparently naturally slightly alkaline, so by keeping fluids at this pH, they say it can help overcome disease and ill health, increase energy levels, and slow down aging. The site says: "We are alkaline by design but unfortunately modern diets, lifestyles, stress and environmental pollution lead to a build up of excess acidity in the body tissues often leading to serious health problems."

"I say" I thought when I heard about this. "This all sounds jolly fabulous- how can I go about sorting out this pH business?"

Well, one of the first things you can do apparently, is filter your water...
"Our water ionization products focus on alkaline antioxidant water, the type of water that has got energising and healing properties....Drinking alkaline water helps to neutralise acidity, flushing toxins out of the body and counteracting the damage caused by harmful free radicals. It is probably the simplest thing you can do to improve your health and help with alkaline body pH."- Quoted from www.water-for-health.co.uk

There are numerous products from little portable water flasks to proper filtration like systems, but this filter jug was something I thought would be easy to use and practical- what with many people already filtering their water out of preference, or buying bottled water.

The Jug claims to do many things like:
- Increases the pH slightly
-Make the water more easily absorbed in the body
-Put beneficial minerals in.

The jug is not terrifying looking or anything, it looks just like a normal water filter jug, and thus will fit right in in any kitchen and will filter 1.8 litres of water at a time. You will have to replace cartridges in it however, and you get 2 when you purchase it. They typically are said to last 6-10 weeks. The instructions that come with it are clear and easy to follow, and also give you more information.

Right, so as I said, I have been using the filtered water for about a month now, and during these bleak winter weeks I have felt very healthy indeed. Even though its freezing, and everywhere people are sneezing, coughing, and sniffing, I have not fallen ill (I bet this means I will jinx myself and get like the nastiest blocked up nose ever on Xmas day or something), I have slept very well, and I have had lots of energy to complete endless amounts of work. Neither have I felt bloated or sluggish, although I have been trying to accompany this water filtering with a healthy fruit and vegetable related diet.

Thus all in all I am pleased, and although at first the water tasted odd (and at first you are advised to not drink too much- read the instructions), this is probably because I am used to drinking "very hard" water from the tap all my life, and its what I am used to.

All I can say is give it a go- we all need to be hydrated right? May as well do it in style!
